My story begins about seven-eighths of the way through college. Living in a house with soon-to-be accountants, engineers and doctors, I was the resident liberal arts major with no real prospects to speak of.
By that point in my life, I’d broken both legs skiing and been told by my high school track coach that “pole vault isn’t for everyone.” So the realist in me had already ruled out professional athlete as a career path.
Which makes me thankful to have found copywriting. In just a few years since blindly Googling “careers in writing”, I’ve had the chance to work on dozens of accounts ranging from defense to minor league baseball. A client even credited the work I did in an RFP as the reason our agency won the business.
All without risk of serious injury.
